The Office maintains an accurate space inventory of all spaces owned, leased, or occupied by the College of Charleston in a system known as AiM. The inventory includes floor plans and data such as building, room numbers, square feet, occupancy, and room uses. The Office tracks data according to specifications outlined by the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education (CHE) as well as national standards. The National Center for Education Statistics manages the Facilities and Inventory Classification Manual (FICM).
Updates to space data are coordinated with departmental and unit space liaisons as occupant assignment or room use changes. The Office works directly with the Office of Institutional Research, Planning, and Information Management to ensure timely reporting to CHE. Therefore, the maintenance of an accurate space inventory is essential for both reporting and planning purposes.
